FROM THE EDITOR
BY BOB GASSEL

As this is my last issue as Editor of TIMBERLIFE, I would like to thank a few people who have helped me over the years.

First of all, I’d like to thank the Founder and first Editor of TIMBERLIFE, Fred Bierman, for convincing Harold Hiken to publish a professional-looking publication when a dittoed newspaper would have cost a lot less. It was Fred who got me interested in the enterprise, and I thank him for making TIMBERLIFE what it is today.

Secondly, I’d like to thank the person who revised this newspaper to it’s present form, Jeff Heller. In 1976, Jeff found a way to print the paper quicker and cheaper than it had been before, and was able to continue TIMBERLIFE after Bierman left.

When I took over in 1977, I was aided greatly by the experience Fred and Jeff had given me, and I am eternally grateful to them.

My Assistant Editor these past two years has been Jim Salinsky, and with this issue he takes over as Editor-in-Chief. I am sure that Jim, with assistant Greg Schatten, will continue to improve and expand TIMBERLIFE in the years to come.

I’d also like to thank the Timberlane Photography department. Photo heads Eric Rogers, Steve Grotz, and Saul Sodos have provided us with wonderful photos which have added life to our publication.

Lastly, I’d like to thank the people most responsible for TIMBERLIFE’S success, the campers and staff who have written the articles for the past five years. An editor is nowhere without good articles, and with your help, TIMBERLIFE will continue to prosper as it enters the 1980’s.
