A Note From the Director

This is Camp Timberlane’s 19th season and will hopefully be the best ever. Our staff this year is the most experienced we have ever had with an average years attendance of eight. Some of the staff have been here as long as twelve years, starting when they were campers way back when. We are more diverse with the location that campers come from this year. Timberlane has boys for the first time from Tulsa, Oklahoma; and from Venezuela, as well as Memphis, Louisville, Chattanooga, Florida, California, St. Louis, Peoria, Springfield, Danville, Chicago, Milwaukee, and others. One of the most important aspects of camp living is learning to live with boys from other areas in a group arrangement. Sometimes fights will develop, but in the long run, if you don’t learn to make friends here at camp, the whole summer is for naught.

Simply being able to waterski, or ride a horse, isn’t enough to have a great summer. Timberlane has always been proud of itself for having friendships which last forever. Every summer old counselors continue to come to camp just to visit and see all the guys here at camp. During the winter, boys and staff travel back and forth to each other’s city to visit. I know that after twenty-seven years of camping, my best friends are camp friends. Keep this in mind while you are here at Timberlane, because it is the most important aspect of camp life.
