In this twentieth year of Timberlane's existence, many thoughts come into my head, mainly about the camp's uniqueness. As said before, we are the only camp with trampball. Also other camps in this area assign a kid’s cabin group to their activities. Here at Timberlane boys are allowed to choose which activities they would like to participate in, and when.

What I am most impressed with, however, is the camp’s ability to bring together people from all over the country. This allows us to visit those places, without ever leaving camp, thought the stories that they bring, and the accents they are told with.

My third point that I have thought about during the transition between camper and staff member, is that of Timberlane as a place to excel. We come here, not to be competitive, as in some specialized camps; yet find ourselves in daily athletics, as well as Pow Wow and U.N. Days, inter-camp competitions, track and field days, and cabin challenges. Many improve in these areas, and are awarded for their efforts at the end of the session. As has been said before, the majority of staff members at camp are campers who have found their rut to fit into at camp, excelled in that area, and often find themselves leading and teaching that activity as a staff member. I ask you to find your rut at Timberlane to fit into, whether it be in athletics, photography, electronics, pottery, or another activity; and pursue it to your fullest extent, as the rewards are very self-satisfying.
