THE WHALER SWIM

This years' waterfront director, Grant Linsky, has reinstituted the tremendous challenge of swimming across Lake Towanda. 1980 is the first year the endurance swim has taken place since 1969.

During the swim, boats scan the area to ensure the safety of all swimmers involved. “Our main concern was for the safety of the campers” Grant told TIMBERLIFE.

Swimmers who swam across the lake were proclaimed Junior Whalers, and those that swam across and back were awarded the title of Senior Whaler.
