Tuesday, July 1st, Camp Timberlane proved
its competitiveness when a rough day of sports was conducted at both
camps. The Junior and Senior division teams in softball, soccer,
archery, riflery, and tennis traveled to Camp Menominee; while the
Intermediate teams waged their wars at Timberlane. The results are as
follows:
In the Junior division, Menominee scored victories in softball
(12-2), soccer (1-0) , archery (256-156), riflery (142-100) , and
tennis (3-1,1-1).
Timberlane did a little bit better in the Intermediate division
scoring wins in soccer (4-1), tennis (2-2, 3-0), and in one of the
two softball games played (7-4). Noteworthy in this particular game
was Kevin Palans for his two home-runs.
In the Senior division, Greg Garland led the team with his home run,
although it was not enough to secure a victory in that game,
Timberlane lost 11-7. The Seniors did win, however, in soccer (3-1)
but sustained losses in the other activities.
As this newspaper was going to the press, TImberlane campers were
competing in another day of similar competitions with Camp Kawaga,
rumored to be even tougher than Menominee. Details will follow in the
second session issue of Timberlife.
