Track and Field
by Chris Engle

No pain, no gain” is the motto of Track and Field head Jeff Mossler. Jeff teaches a very popular activity which allows campers to participate in the wide variety of Track and Field events. These events include such things as sprints, hurdles, distance running, long jump, discus, high jump and even pole vaulting. Pole vaulting, being the specialized activity that it is, is taught by our in-camp expert, Bill Baumann.

Classes usually start with a series of loosening up exercises. These are such things as jumping jacks, stretching, sit-ups, pushups and many others.

The highlight of our Track and Field program is Track and Field Day, which occurs on the last Thursday of each session. During this day campers compete in the various T & F events. The top finisher in each age division is awarded a ribbon. Camp records are also kept and posted on a board inside the lodge.

Track and field may be a very hard and trying activity, but it has always proved to be a popular one.
