Archery at Timberlane this year is taught
by Bill Clark and Bill Barenholtz, under the supervision of Tony
Searle. The two instructors are able to have a close relationship
with the camp archers, because of the small class size. This has
created a situation where any archer, be he excellent or a beginner,
will have instruction on the proper phase of shooting.
The archers and archery staff thanks goes out to H for
purchasing three new target faces, new finger and arm guards, new bow
strings, and seventy-two new arrows. This equipment has come in very
handy as our more experienced archers can shoot with the improved
gear.
In addition to shooting on the range, the boys have been taken out on
the archery trail.
On the trail, campers have the opportunity to shoot at targets in a
wooded setting. Later this year we hope to have competition with Camp
Kawaga. In the past we have done very well in competition with Camp
Kawaga. In the past we have done very well in competition. This year
we hope to do better than ever before.
Archery at camp has come a long way since
1961. The present rate of improvement in our archers is tremendous.
Every person who took archery first session received at least one
award. This can be attributed to the work the campers put into their
shooting as well as the fine equipment we have here at Timberlane.
DID YOU KNOW...that the
only blue trim left in camp is on the back of the manor?
