One of the most popular counselors here at
Timberlane is Billy Fried. Billy is head of Waterskiing as well as
the Senior Counselor of Sioux cabin. He has been here at camp longer
than any non-Hiken still attending. Part of the reason for this is
his family’s closeness with camp. His brother, Ed, was a camper
as well as a counselor here for many years. His sister, Sally, used
to teach swimming at Timberlane. His parents are also good friends
with the Hikens. In addition, the Fried’s own a college here on
the lake.
Billy is presently a “Board Member at Large” of the famous
MIN-AQUA BAT Waterski team. He performs the shoe ski act and also
drives their ski boats. He has been a member since 1977.
Because of his popularity, a Billy Fried Fan Club has been formed
with this reporter as president. The initiation fee for the club is
$150 and the supplementary annual dues are $25. All interested
parties fill out the coupon below. Benefits of the club include a
Billy Fried Fan Club certificate, lengthened ski rides, Billy Fried
back-rubbing privileges, an annual Bear Lake excursion, and Trout
fishing trips.
