New Sports at Timberlane
By Matt Silvers

Timberlane has always been the birthplace for many creative additions to the athletic world, such as Trampball and CTM bin-smashing. This year is no different, the ingenious campers and staff members at camp have developed the first nationally-known Skitch Bat team. Skitching was an amateur sport until now, and is played by holding on to the rear-end of any moving vehicle in an attempt to outlast your competitors. This year, however, Timberlane CTM workers (PA’s and CIT’s) have standardized the sport and formed the first professionally competing team. The famed “Troutmobile” is the vehicle used here at camp, and the contestants hold on by means of short ski robes or chains with specially handles. Self-proclaimed president of the team this year is Crag” the Masher” Rouben. Timberlane’s team members have as of yet only been able to compete with each other because they are the only known skitching team in the entire world! However, this year’s competitions have officially been put on hold by Sharon Hiken, for fear of injury.

Getting slightly more off the ground is the new Camp Timberlane polo team. A group of eight counselors and CIT’s mount their favorite horses and grab their homemade polo sticks to play the field sport, which is scored much like soccer. Polo is historically a sport for the sophisticated rich of Great Britain, but when one sees this motley crew with their make-shift gear, you would never guess it.

TIMBERLIFE salutes all of the creative inventors of these fine sports and hopes that others will follow in their unique paths.
