U.N. Day Highlights First Session
by Scott Shovers

United Nations Day is fun for everyone! There are captains who pick the teams. Picking teams is hard work. The night before they have to set up the choice picks. It is hard because another team may pick who you want.

The camp is divided up into three groups - juniors, intermediates and seniors. This year’s captains for the juniors are Scott Shovers, Doug Alton, Jeff Kollinger and Phillip Berney. And the intermediates are James Sessel, Jon Molasky, Steve Balk and Joel Sokolik. For the seniors it’s Josh Taxman, Maury Hecht, Bruce Sokolik and Alan Kline.

Some U.N. activities are tushball and volleyball. Volleyball just came to camp this year and it’s becoming very popular. Trampoline baseball is very popular and has been around for about 10 years. There are also alot of running races.

The kitchen people are involved and the boys are considered staff.
The girls are like showgirls for the team. It takes one day of fun for many days of work. At the end of the day is the Tug of War! This is the final thing and the team with the most points, battles the team with the second highest points. At the end, all the scores are added up to find the winner. The winning team has a party -- either soda and peanuts or soda and watermelon!
