First of all, how do we know these shots were taken in Peoria?
I could probably go to a Ratdog website and find the same pics.
With all the bravado Pud, where's a shot you with Bobby?
On second look, these pics must have been in Peoria...look at
the scowl on Bobby's face.

Smilin' Bobby
A good man is one who graciously acknowledges when he is WRONG.
I just so happen to have a BOB WEIR SMILING IN PEORIA pic (yes,
it was personally taken by me, as I was about 5 feet away from
him). ALL the pics I have in my briefcase were personally taken
by me at the Madison Theatre, Peoria, IL. I'd have no reason
whatsoever to snag pics off Ratdog.org. In fact, I've been in
email contact with Dave Rosenberg, the site's Webmaster and,
within the coming days and weeks, he'll be posting a few of my
Peoria shots. Oh, the only reason why I didn't get a pic taken
of Bob and myself was that there was a cold rain falling and he
had just awoken, but you may shake my hand sometime and I
assure you, it was the same hand that shook his. Good
Day...

The Bottom Line
If we must rattle on about the biggest event in Peoria since
Richard Pryor emerged from the red light district, please Pud,
tell us how the show actually was. I saw Ratdog along with
Phil's band over New Years in Oakland. While many told me it
was the best they had seen Ratdog perform, they paled in
comparison to Phil's Quartet. The weakest link in the band was
Bobby's voice which seemed to be totally shot after years of
abuse.

Red, gaschatten@attbi.com, [Msgid=230554]
My 2¢...
I saw Ratdog last month and I've heard many shows from the past
few months, and I agree Bobby's voice is a bit shot, however,
he does have some good nights. But to hear Mark Karan on lead
guitar helps balance things out.
I've also seen Phil & Friends and I'll say Phil's voice is
not shot....it just always sucked. Ever hear him try and get
through St Stephen?....."Lady Finger, dipped in moonlight...."
Yikes!
Lesh
Warren Haynes has been taking over more and more of the
vocals in the past year or so with very bluesy renditions....
he's da bomb.
Haynes
Jimmy Herring plays a mean guitar and loves to drive in his
Jaguar.
Bosco's current pick: Donna The Buffalo...a band that's been
around since '87 from Ithaca, NY. You may have not heard them
but you will soon, their momentum is unstoppable. The album
'Positive Friction' is a shinning example...also their 12/31/01
NYE bootleg is great fun.
Gonna see them in two weeks at Springfest and will, hopefully,
promote them in the summer.

Just Another Picky Deadhead
Ok, my last comment on the subject since I don't think everyone
wants to read these continued Dead ramblings. Phil's voice does
not get in the way of the Band (the Stephen from 12/30/01 is
unbelievable!!). Bobby insists on always being the front man to
the point where he steps on Karan's leads whenever he gets
going with either his nasty guitar or raspy voice. That all
being said, Karan is not half the player that either Haynes or
Herring are, however, he is adequate.

KARAN
"Karan is not half the player that either Haynes or Herring
are, however, he is adequate."
Either Karan was very lame around New Year's or has progressed
a lot since then--he jammed and it was effortless, ALTHOUGH,
I've been a Warren Haynes fan for many years, esp. during his
Allmans tenure. Even though I got to shake Bob's hand (he
shakes very gingerly), I'll agree that his voice is dying with
old age...

Sweatin the draw
Donny, I can't tell you how hard all Hoosier fans are sweating
whether IU makes the big dance. I'm sure the committee will
really have to ponder whether the team with the 2nd toughest
schedule with an RPI of 16 who shared in their conference title
merits a slot! We'll leave the sweating to Missouri fans. By
the way if Missouri gets a slot over Butler, that would be a
crime. I'm sure the movie tonight is designed to be an accurate
portrayal rather than a ratings-grabber. Couldn't you tell from
the lack of promotion of the movie? Shut the fuck up Donny!

Camp Subject
How about stories about the first time you ever remember
getting drunk or chonied at camp...who got you drunk or turned
you on? My first drunk I remember was when I was a C.I.T. and
ended up rolling around with Sandy McAdams Faiwell out by the
weightlifting shack...Elmo was he who corrupted me with regard
to cannabinoids while in pre-camp in Wolf Cabin in
1976

Back to Camp Memories
My first time drunk in camp was when I was a 2nd session J.C.
at a Faiwell keg party in the Rec Hall. I seem to remember
spending a good portion of the night riding around in a
shopping cart and then power booting into a trash can as a
number of the staff cheered me on.

"...and ended up rolling around with Sandy McAdams Faiwell out

AND I THOUGHT THAT STICKY STUFF ON THE BARBELS WAS FROM THE
NEARBY MAPLE TREE. MY "1ST DRUNK-AT-CAMP" OCCURRED IN 1975 ON
OUR P.A. OVERNIGHT W/LEE AND GLYNNNNN, AS LONNIE LAZAR AND I
WERE HEAVING SPAGHETTI-O's OFF SOME SAND HILL. "1ST CHONY"
OCCURRED LATER THAT SAME SUMMER ON MY 1ST CANDIAN WITH TUBULAR
AND GLYNNNNN (IN THEIR "MOTORIZED" CANOE ON BASSWOOD LAKE).
THAT VERY SAME DAY, I FOUND THE BIGGEST BULLFROG I'D EVER SEEN
AND CAME BACK TO THE TENT LATE AT NIGHT IN MY
"1ST-CHONY-FIT-OF-LAUGHTER" AND THRU IT ON BOBBO KOMISAR, WHO
PUMMELED ME UNTIL I BOOTED. AS WE WE'RE LEAVING SUNDAY LAKE THE
VERY NEXT MORNING, FAIWELL WAS PISSED OFF BECAUSE OF THE MESS
EVERYONE LEFT AND KNOCKED THE WIND OUTTA' MY GUT BECAUSE I
HAPPENED TO BE STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO HIM, THEREBY MAKING ME
BOOT UP MY BACON AND EGGS.

Praise the Lord and Pass the Snakes...
Although he didn't know the colors, JP correctly classified it
as an Arizona Gopher snake (Pituophis melanoleucus) and thereby
wins free canteen (see Matt).
Hawkeye was 9½ feet at the time and was black, brown, and
yellow.
He was one of camps closest guarded secrets for two whole
summers until post camp of '79 when he came out of the closet
during a beer party in the Faiwell Manor and laid a giant snake
doodie in the middle of the living room rug.
Peter and I had a hell night during the last week of regular
camp for our cabin (Cherokee) which involved a blindfold, warm
rootbeer, and Hawkeye.

True Name & Length
JP could be right about Hawkeye being 2ft shorter than
originally stated....but as the years go on the story may get a
bit embelllished....something I learned from the ol' H.
By the year 2020, Hawkeye will have reached a length of almost
19 feet and will have eaten a camper!
Joey has a sharp memory but he should focus on the girth rather
than the length...something I learned from the ol' Pud.
Hawkeye Shitzalot was probably his nickname while at camp, as
he did....a lot......due to the rapidly dwindling chipmunk
population those two summers.
What tops all of that is a post from Saul! Gee wiz....'bout
time you came outta the woodwork!.....good to hear from ya.
Now if we can just get those one time, brief, reclusive posts
from the likes of Joel Brazy, Goldie or Matt to return to the
board, it would be like one big happy family again. And for
those of you CA readers out there who never have posted....we
know your there and can hear you breathing.

Having always erred on the side of Too Much Information, I'll
offer my 1st camp heave - it was probably the same one as Pud.
1975 with Lee and Glenn at an overnight on some lake I can't
remember and the beer was Red, White, and Blue. I do remember
building a huge set of breasts on the sandy beach and doing a
body slam into them from the hill overlooking the beach. I also
remember 1st toke and 1st lay at camp among a few others
firsts, but I'll hold back on those for now.
