Mr. Weir's personal assistant for all band gigs and

Cool, Michigan bashing, there's something I can sink my teeth
into. Dr. Moss, it's interesting that in the last year you have
come out against the two sports that Indy does not have a major
league pro team in (Baseball and Hockey). Anyhow, I know
Basketball is your game and one which I will admittedly only
pay attention to during the NCAA's as it is a morally bankrupt
sport(Michigan's basketball scandal being a case in point) that
is only interesting to watch in the last five minutes of a
game. Maybe you should turn to Soccer, hasn't IU had some good
teams?

Hank Schwartz
When I think of Hank Schwartz, I think of THE pioneer of
Timberlane, outside of Harold & Sharon. As the Hikens will
concur, it takes unique vision, diligence, perseverence and a
helluva lot of luck in the camping business to make dreams come
true. To realize that Hank was Timberlane's first Assistant
Director gives us all a sense of his longevity. His grandson,
Nathan, was part of camp and that has always imparted deep down
to a lot of us that this guy was not only one, who created such
things as the athetic field, but was the truest believer in
Timberlane, in every sense of the word. When we were introduced
to each other in the late 1970s, he never asked me what my real
name was. I just think he thought my real name was "Pud." I'll
always remember him as one of the nicest guys I've ever had the
pleasure of knowing. I'm saddened to now realize he is no
longer with us.

Hank
Classic Hank story...5, maybe 6 years ago, I was visiting
Agawak. Quite often Hank would teach a woodcarving class to the
girls during free periods. I happen to walk by the workshop
when I noticed Hank with 3 small campers using an electric
woodcarving device. Because the device sprayed wood fragments,
Hank decided to protect the youngsters with clear plastic
garbage bags. These bags not only covered their bodies, but
also over their head. Mary happened to walk by and I pointed
this to her. Horrified, she tactfully helped Hank find another
method of protecting the girls. He always had the best
intentions.

Cool Guys, Cheap Labor and DDT
It's been great seeing folks like Steve, Larry, and Vance weigh
in on their memories of Hank. Steve, Larry, and guys like Nick
Belinke were the cool guys when I was a camper. Grossman was
like Steve McQueen. These guys were the reasons that campers
wanted to be counselors. Come to think of it, they still are.
The story from Vance about building Hank's house and the use of
camp labor reminded me of how Harold always used campers the
same way. Before there was a rec hall, probably around 66 or
67, HH wanted a baseball field in an area near the tennis
courts where there was nothing but grass and rocks. Each night
after dinner, the entire camp would go out to this "field" and
pick up rocks. It was a condition to getting canteen... kids
luggin' rocks to get candy. After about 4 weeks of clearing
away rocks, Harold needed to create an infield. In an inspired
moment of engineering genius, a bed frame was tied to the back
of a station wagon and driven around and around in a circle to
uproot the grass and leave an infield. This practice was
continued for at least a couple years.
Now a question...a recent article here in Tucson discussed the
rise in ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) cases in certain pockets of
people. One potential theory was that the cause was DDT, the
substance banned that had been used for pest control. Now the
question...what was that shit we all breathed for many years
from the "fogger" used to get rid of mosquitos?

MORE OUTTA' THE BLUE
Greetings. Since I have a few minutes before crashing, I
thought I'd enlighten everyone on what's been goin' on in the
Pud World. Yes, Jesus still says "love 'em all." I've had a few
minor debacles with immediate neighbors as of late. They're
scum. I have a miserable old lady next door, who sent her son
after me for a supposed $800 damage to her house by some tree
limbs of mine after an ice storm a couple months ago. Suffice
to say, it was an "Act of God" and she didn't have a "limb" to
stand on. What's more, there was no damage. It was a complete
shakedown. Proceeding that, she decided to let her dog outside
my window, so she could bark consistently for a couple hours,
usually beginning around 2:30 A.M. on both weeknights/weekends.
Upon getting nowhere with her on the phone, I called the city
on the bitch and she's been served ample warning. Next time,
I'm haulin' her sorry ass to court and will let my bulldog-old
man chew her up for dinner. As for the psycho Border Collie
across the street, that issue has been firmly, yet tactfully
addressed with such appropriate parties and so far, so good. In
continually insulating myself from troublesome neighbor sorts
and, in an attempt to cut the heat hitting my windows (house
faces straight west), I've come in with
professionally-installed window film, namely Madico SB-221 75%
energy reduction tint. It has a slightly bronzish appearance
from the outside and cuts the heat & light so well that I
need to turn on the lights in the daytime. Perhaps I should
have opted for the "66% reduction" tint, which allows for 40%
light, as opposed to 25% light. I can always get it rectified;
however, SUNGARD has no sympathy and will shave very little off
the replacement cost, should I choose to downgrade to a
slightly more subtle look. Whats's great about it is that I can
do whatever illicit activity I choose during the day time with
blinds completely open and no one will have a clue. Speaking of
my Poppie, he turns 78 this Friday; however some sad news has
come our way--the poor guy has to get both testicles removed in
June. It seems that they've both swelled to the size of
grapefruits and, needless to say, are causing him great
discomfort. As my old man reports, "first they take my kidney,
next they take a cut around my eyes, then they take my thyroid,
then cut into my neck and now they're slicin' my balls off."
This is one escapade he's NOT looking forward to. I can't
honestly blame him. Aside from window film, I also opted to
give up my cable tv and just got DIRECT TV installed. The
digital/DVD quality is awesome and they very discreetly placed
my dish actually on top of my back bedroom (facing the Southern
skies), so very difficult to even see that I have a dish,
unless one positions themselves around my garage--pretty slick
and same price as cable. So--that's what's goin' on in the "Pud
World." Jerry Sloan will FINALLY be fired from the Utah Jazz. I
recall 30 years ago when he kicked Milwaukee Bucks' forward
Curtis Perry in the head. Carlinville, IL Holiday Inn Tuesday
night and dinner with "Candy." I think that's her real
name...Hey, I KNOW I'm not normal.

Mr. Pudrick, I ran across your recent posting and could not
help but respond. Our company specializes in building moats to
keep out 'unwelcome' guests. If desired the moat can be stocked
with reptiles capable of devouring a small to medium size dog
or child. Depending on your local regulations we can also add
various weaponry to the perimeter of your structure. In
addition we can install large iron bars on your windows to not
only add security, but to give your neighbor's that 'keep out'
message. Our work has been endorsed by the Organization of
Unfriendly Neighbors and the NRA. By the way we know Candy from
