Powerful, impressive
New Boats Aid Skiing
by Steve Balk

This year the camp bought two new ski boats. One is a 16-foot Sea Sprite with a new 105-horsepower Chrysler motor. This boat goes about 34 m.p.h.

“The 105 is the most powerful boat the camp has ever had, and is a good show boat,” said Joe Shneider, one of the top men in the skiing department. It is equipped with a tachometer (which measures how fast the motor is going), a speedometer, and a special tripod hitch.

The other boat is a 16 foot minihydodine that goes about 34 m.p.h. with a 65-horsepower Evinrude motor. The 65 is equipped with a speedometer and a special tripod hitch.

The 105 “is a fantastic beginner boat, has a good wake and is good for slalom and barefoot skiing,” said Joel Brazy, president of the 1975 Timberbat Waterski Club. Joel also said that the 65 is not a very good boat for slalom skiing because it does not have enough power, but said it put out a good wake and is a good boat for two skiing.
