Inspection: Point by Point
by Carl Bassewitz and Jon Barker

A lot of you parents might be wondering what a Camp Timberlane inspection is, and how it is scored. Here are some of the answers:

For scoring there are two categories in inspection: general appearance, and personal appearance. In general appearance of the cabin, you try to receive five points each on floors, bath, basket, grounds, beds and shelves.

In personal appearance, the cabin also tries for possible five points in categories of hands, teeth, ears and clothing. There is also a possible five point deduction for nasty remars about the inspector.

If a cabin wins three inspections in a row, they receive a malt. If they win seven in a row, each camper gets $1.50 towards a pizza dinner at Mama’s Restaurant.
Senior staff are the inspectors. Inspection is done 30 to 45 minutes after breakfast. If a cabin gets lower than 45 points, they are on probation. This means they can’t go to first hour unless they clean up instantly.
