Radio KTIM Broadcasts
by Greg Schatten

In 1965, some kids asked H.H. to have a radio station. So, H.H. found out that some counselors had radio equipment, so he sent for the equipment and started a radio station. It was on the left side of the craft shop.

The next year, in 1966, the camp brought its own equipment, such as a new transmitter and later made such improvements as an F.M. tuner. In 1974, they tried to buy a new turntable, but their order didn’t go through. Now, we have two turntables, one (broken) reel-to-reel tape recorder, two microphones, a transmitter and an FM tuner. The radio station can barely be heard halfway down the camp road.

It emits only five watts of power. The most popular records are The Beatles records. When KTIM is not running, the FM tuner is broadcasting, if anyone wants to be a disc jockey, he should speak to Jim Goldstein or Fred Heller.
