Some people wonder how the moose in the lodge go there. It all
started over fifteen years ago when Dr. Edwin Theideman had a resort
here. Doc Thiedeman was also a taxidermist (one who
stuffs animals).
One day while he was in the woods he found a badly injured moose. So,
he put him to sleep and stuffed his head. He hung it in his house,
which is now the Hiken house.
When H.H. moved here and the lodge was built, he moved the moose into
the lodge and it has been there ever since Camp Timberlane has been
in operation.
You will find around camp various other stuffed animals like the
sailfish in Hs house and the hawk in the Hawk
cabin-- both of which were stuffed by Dr. Theideman. Lots of jokes
have been played with the moose over the years, like some people have
put cigarettes in its mouth and once it was raised up the
flagpole.
